Question:

Something is wrong with my digital camera what can i do to fix it?

I got a Nikon Coolpix for christmas a friend of mine dropped it a few months later jamming the lens... today i found out it would cost $150 or more to fix it s***w THAT i do NOT have that kind of money... so i asked a friend of mine whos hobby is cameras what to do .. he told me that if its jamed take it apart and unjamm it... and what not to do ... so i got out the screws.. and gently pushed the back off lifted up the screen and saw that i cound get to it from the back so i looked up stuff and someone said to pushe it toward the gap so i did and it worked... i put it together and turned it on AWESOME so now i try to take pictues and when i go back to look at my pics there are a bunch of lines and wavey lines what can i do to fix it i just unscrewed it again and moved the screen and put it back and screwed it back up... and its still there

  1. What's cheaper, saving the $150 for someone to fix your camera, or s******g it up by messing with it by yourself and having to buy a new one?

    If you're too tight-fisted to save the cash, then I suggest getting creative as you look for someone to repair the camera.  Perhaps you can trade goods/services for the work.


  2. You should have asked the friend that dropped it to pay for it. Now, since you took it upon yourself to fix it, you're fully responsible for the problem that you created.

    A ribbon cable was most likely damaged during disassembly or reassambly. These are the thin flexible strips of cable that connect various components in a camera. It could also be a number of other problems. Unless you happen to know a camera technician too it's going to be difficult to diagnose and pinpoint the problem.
