Something is wrong with my dvd player/dvd...can you help?

i was putting in the movie 27 dresses (just bought it) and it took a min or 2 to load. but then after the commercials it froze up, before it got to the menu and the entire dvd player wouldn't work. i couldn't eject or turn it off or anything. i tried it again today and the same thing happened BUT the movie works on my computer. and other movies have worked in the dvd player since then.

The movie could be damaged enough that the laser on your DVD won't read correctly.  Some players do a better job at compensating for flaws in the disc than others.  Just because the DvD plays in the computer does not mean it is not damaged.  

Suggest trying the DVD on another DVD player, not computer.  If it is still does not work then your DVD is bad.  You should be able to exchange for a replacement.
