I've lost a ton of distance. My friends are telling me that I'm not "coming through" the ball. How do I fix that?

  1. You've "tied yourself up". THINKING, is the cardinal sin in the golf swing. To loosen up, practice 1/4 swings with your 8 iron. DO NOT make a turn, or a swing of any kind. Just use your hands and wrist to swing the club through from a 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock positions. At first it will feel awkward, but soon you will find yourself getting surprising distance with this little swing. The reason it helps is that it is training you to "release" the club again. Your friends call it "coming through" the ball. When you can comfortably strike SOLID shots with this exercise, increase the length of your swing. Remember, you want to swing as if there is no ball there. When you can release the club properly, it will be time for you to leave, Grasshopper.

  2. Just make sure you continue acceleration through the ball and finish your swing with a full rotation and proper posture facing at your target.  That's all that means.

  3. It sounds like you might not be hitting the ball on the clubs descent.  Rather than trying to pick the ball, try to hit down onto the ball and making a divot after the ball.

If that isnt it you might not be using your body to "hit through" the ball, if that is the case, at the range try taking a couple shots with alot of your weight focused on your left side (if you are right handed) at contact.  Get used to that feeling and try to duplicate it using your normal swing (if that doesn't make sense...sorry)

  4. this is short and simple. you are probably slicing it right? close your clubhead face at setup, not just close over close it, make sure its overclosed a little, swing the club in on the swing path(close to ur inside on ur backswing) and swing out at 1oclock on your downswing. this fixes millions of people. best answer right here no doubt

  5. My best suggestion is to find a good coach, he'll tell you if anything goes wrong.

  6. In order to get the best of your shot, you want to be gaining speed at impact. This will help "pull" your chest around after contact leaving your front side facing the target. If you are slowing down, or quitting a little, you could expect to see a noticeable power loss, with some weak slices and pushes.

A good drill to fix it would be to make some practice swings moving your weight all the way through to your left side, by actually picking up your back foot through impact. You can't have your weight on the wrong foot when it's not on the ground.

  7. All you have to do is make sure when you finish your swing that your right shoulder is directly above your left foot if you play right handed and youll be back in business

  8. get either a sand bag or an old tire, and slowly swing your club into it..you can see if you are opening up, throwing yoru hips at the ball..go to www.golfchannel.com and look at some of the videos on the subject

  9. I would recommend swing lessons.
