Something just happened?

Question

yeah, we are in Gold beach, oregon. 10 minutes ago we just heard air raid sirens for like 30 seconds, followed by police sirens going by. What could that have been? Is it a tsunami warning or what? Should i be worried?

I have no idea what it could have been, if i were you i'd be scared but hopefully it's nothing....Don't panic :)

call the local police (non-emergency number) and ask them...it might be an emergency signal for trouble at a plant...like a fire. there's no emergencies "breaking news" on the tv so you're probably ok.

Here in New Zealand, such sirens are used to alert the public that the volunteer fire services are being requested to go to their stations so lets you know to be on the look-out for emergency vehicles.

Also lets the firefighters themselves know to go to station. I was scared the first time I heard it considering I had just been reading about the risk of volcanic eruption in NZ. I imagine you've heard something similar (fire service, not volcanoes ;-))

Just call 911 and find out and other than that they may just be running a test................................
