Something like Norton, free?

I want something to keep my computer safe, I have norton for now. But is there something I can downlode off line, maybe even free that will keep my computer free like Norton?

AVG is better than Norton AVG is free  Norton slows down the system

Well, there's a bunch of free antivirus programs out there.

I'd recommend AVG Free 8.0 or Spyware Terminator. They both have antivirus and antispyware built into one program. Right now I'm running Spyware Terminator and my computer has been running as fast as it was new.
