The Thinking Toad
We strive for intellect and thoughtfulness
wisdom, brain and wit
and it is sad that some do not know the half of it.
The torment of ignorance is the lightest load.
Consider the agony of the thinking toad,
or the jersey cow,
she’d shrink in discontent,
her udder’d dry,
if she knew she feeds the criminal, the hypocrite,
she’d cry.
and…
There’d be anguish in the minds of mourning hens
if they knew and understood their chicks
deep fried for men.
That lazy house pet dog or cat
would weep a woeful tear of two or laugh in great guffaws
if it considered
the importance of what men do.~patsy mcAuley
