Something to cheer for Malaysia as female duo Eei h*i, Pei Tty save honour in Swiss Open GP Gold
The Malaysian female duo Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty managed to save some honour and eased into the semi-final of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold on March 16, 2012.
While all their compatriots kept heads down at quarter-final stage, the Women’s doubles experts gave Malaysia something to cheer by winning against Christinna Pedersen-Kamilla Rytter from Denmark.
The female duo will now test their skills against the Chinese couple Tang Jinhua-Huan Xia in the semi-finals.
Earlier, Men’s singles shuttler Daren Liew, the mixed doubles experts Peng Soon- Liu Ying and Men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem- Teo Kok Siang crashed out of the event.
The Chinese maestro Chen Jin pushed Daren into dark while V Shem-Kok Siang were hammered by Alvent Yulianto-Hendra Aprida before the mixed doubles hope Peng Soon-Liu Ying failed to continue their run against Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir in quarter-finals.
The only survivors were Eei h*i and Pei Tty who overwhelmed their opponents Christinna Pedersen-Kamilla Rytter with decisive figures of 21-18, 15-21 and 21-7.
Both quarter-finalists snapped each other’s heels as the three set tussle prolonged to 53 minutes but the battle ended with 2-1 match score position in Malaysia’s favour.
The World Number 14 pair Eei h*i-Pei Tty set the ball rolling by seizing the opening match point with 21-18 score on the board. Their opponents were unable to control their speedy rallies and kept trailing behind them on the score board.
However, the Danish duo changed balance of the match in next set by standing in their rivals’ way of straight-set victory. They kept the scorers busy in registering the scores in their favour.
They stole the second segment of the show with their excellent performance and registered a respectable margin of 21-15 in score log.
But the master stroke from the Malaysians was yet to come and it came at the right moment when both teams were locked at 1-1 match score position.
The fine display of fortitude and attitude from Eei h*i-Pei Tty was a feast for the eyes as they proved their supremacy in the decider by putting a distinctive margin of 21-7 on the score board.
They will be now in action against relatively low ranked the World Number 20 pair Tang Jinhua-Huan Xia in the semi-final of Swiss Open.
