I struggle with this issue and where I stand. In one sense I don't like or support abortion. I think it's wrong. However on the other hand I don't feel it's my right or the governments right to tell a women what to do with her body.

I thought of a good argumetn today though. The government can tell me I can't smoke pot which is harmelss to myself and to others. Abortion is harmful to the women and killiing a child. If the government can tell me I can't smoke pot why can't they tell a women they can't kill a baby? If abortion is legal let me smoke my pot in peace.

  1. The reason being is that many people look at the baby as a completely separate human. When a woman is carrying a life, her rights are not the only thing that matters any more.

I am a libertarian, so personally, I don't feel that controlling others life based on my own morality (so long as they are not hurting others by their actions) is right. So I really think that the war on drugs is WRONG. But yeah, abortion IS hurting someone else.

  2. seriosly the goverment controls peoples lives to the point they cannot even take their own

    its ilegal to commit suicide

and its ilegal to smoke pot

but its ok to kill a baby

    i am pro choice tho

i just dont think its ok for women to go out and have unprotected s*x just becuz they kno that if something ever happened they would abortion as a back up plan

it makes me sick to kno that ppl have actually had more then one abbortion

its still their choice to make

but in cases of rape or insest i wouldnt think any less of that person or think they are a bad person nor would i call them a baby killer or a murderer if they made that choice

and sometimes if the baby is sick and the doctors say that it will be born with magor defects and has little chance of survival

some ppl make that choice and some ppl still chose to go thru with it

its there choice and it shouldnt be up to me or anybody else to decide( =

  3. I can't really believe that you're trying to equate smoking pot with having an abortion. Why would the government connect these issues at all? And your choice of wording is kind of silly and hyperbolic. Abortion is not "killing a baby", it's a clump of cells that some people think has a soul or whatever, but you're not chopping a mini-infant into pieces or anything.

  4. Good points. I do struggle with abortion issue as well. I am careful that I won't have to fall into that situation to suggest a choice either way. My stance is this: The women has the right to make the wrong choice.

As far as pot, it will never be legal because the Government wouldn't be able to control it because if it is legal then you can grow it in your own house. And of course people will argue well how come people don't make alcohol in their homes?... they buy it in the store! Well because it takes an investment to make alcohol.. especially good alcohol and weed takes no money at all to grow. Plus the government gets a lot more funding for their "war on drug"

To add to Katie's argument, I disagree with the whole be somebody thing. We live in a highly competitive and capitalist country and while I will do everything in my power to prevent my children (if and when I have children) from doing drugs I hope someone's does. It is the same belief that everyone should go to college and that can't happen... you can't have everyone educated wanting the same things and wages. I would get into it more, but that is a whole other novel.

Edit: To Flying Teapot, so you weren't actually a human until you were out of the birth canal right? What were you before??? Not trying to argue over the net just curious to your answer...

  5. So pot is harmless to others as well as your self,

i see, but an abortion is the killing of a child, i see,

so if you were married and your wife was pregnant

and wanted to smoke pot, then what? Einstien . . .

  6. Well I live in Canada where abortion is legal and the way I look at it is, let those who want to have an abortion have one if they choose, but because I'm against abortion, then it's my choice to not have an abortion if I'm pregnant, in Canada where it's illegal. Then in the end everyone has there own choice.

  7. AMEN SISTER!!!!!!

  8. for one pot does harm people. i am allergic to it so if i smell it off people or if they smoke around me i break out and i can't breath, so i am happy it is illegal. i think that abortion should only be used if necessary like it is going to harm the life of the girl or rape.

  9. It's important to understand that if it's illegal women are going to do it anyways. I mean you still smoke your pot, right? But see the thing is those are two separate issues. On one hand, making it ILLEGAL to have an abortion would make the situation even more harmful to women, not only would it kill the baby but it would kill the mother too. This way it is safer. On the other hand making pot LEGAL would also be more harmful. Think of all those children who could actually be somebody? But instead they grow up smelling your smoke and then they start smoking it themselves. And don't tell me that just because they smoke pot that doesn't mean they can't be somebody, because if you didn't smoke that **** you'd probably be ale to come up with a better argument.

  10. Just remember, you can't be pro-life and anti-zombie...or something like that...

And that's so stupid how suicide is illegal.

But interesting to note that males are more successful with suicide attempts then women. That sucks if you fail at failing.

As far as the abortion thing goes, I believe women should choose! There are extenuating circumstances, such as rape, that can leave a women pregnant and not wanting a child! Should she still be obliged to give birth and raise it? No.

  11. He convinced against his will is of the same opinion still take a closer look at pot why be a slave to a substance ..

  12. Lol I think that would be an okay trade off I wouldn't mind seeing a couple more stoners instead of dead babies. Unfortunately the two have nothing to do with one another. It's stupid how a women can do what she wants with her body like having an abortion but you can't pimp yourself out or sell a kidney. What happened to all that stuff about you having a right to do what you want with you body? People just dont want to take responsibility for their actions.

  13. I am against abortion, but truly I've seen cases were you have no choice, if abortion comes because you open your panties by mistake, you have no right to kill a baby, but there are some cases that we can't close our eyes, like if the mother's life is in the line, or due to to a rape, (thou many rape victims chose to have the baby, or give it for adoption), all cases are different, and women not all the time made the right decision, thou they like to have a party down there without living the consequences.
