Something to try to lighten the burden?

The fancy medical term for miscarriage is spontaneous abortion btw.

"The incidence of spontaneous abortion is estimated to be 50% of all pregnancies, based on the assumption that many pregnancies abort spontaneously with no clinical recognition."

Miscarriage can happen before you even get your period... so just because you're hitting that ovulation date exactly it doesn't mean the egg and sperm that have just combined are good enough to make a healthy pregnancy.

"The known causes of spontaneous abortion in the first trimester are primarily chromosomal abnormalities." Cell division is riddled with errors (abnormalities are related to everything from birth defects to autism to height differences between siblings). Make a non-critical error and you could be totally healthy. Make a critical error and the DNA that starts your first heart cells into rhythm might fail or cause cells to divide improperly.

"A pregnancy with a genetic problem has a 95% chance of ending in miscarriage."

The point of this whole thing is that nature only allows those strong enough to make the journey out of the starting gate, even if it means breaking a woman's heart.

Does anyone have anything to add to this?
