Mommy...Johnny brought a gun to school,

He told his friends that it was cool,

And when he pulled the trigger back,

It shot with a great crack.

Mommy, I was a good girl, I did What I was told,

I went to school, I got straight A's, I even got the gold!

But Mommy, when I went to school that day,

I never said good-bye,

I'm sorry Mommy, I had to go, But Mommy, please don't cry.

When Johnny shot the gun, He hit me and another,

And all because Johnny, Got the gun from his older brother.

Mommy, please tell Daddy; That I love him very much,

And please tell Zack; my boyfriend; That it wasn't just a crush.

And tell my little sister; That she is the only one now,

And tell my dear sweet grandmother; I'll be waiting for her now,

And tell my wonderful friends; That they always were the best;

Mommy, I'm not the first, I'm no better than the rest.

Mommy, tell my teachers; I won't show up for class,

Now I am crying.

What many parents do not realize this is just not something that happens in the big schools or in the troubled areas of our country it happens everywhere even in the best of schools.  We live in a very small town the entire high school from 7th -12th grade has 213 students in it, they have all grown up together all were friends and still last fall a kid brought a gun to school.  We were fortunate that he was caught before he could carry out his plan and no one was hurt but this could have been what my daughter would have been saying that morning.  If parents own guns.......lock them away, put trigger locks on them and hide the ammo.  The little amount of trouble that would cause you may save a child their life.

all I can say is OMG and Holy c**p and for everyone that has these types of things around make sure they are high on a shelf and locked up or better yet remove them completely from the home.  This happens to often and it is sad for innocent lives are taken for no reason.  I will be sending this to my friends that have children.

it's so sad that we must think of this everyday as we send our children to school........it makes me angry and sad
