Just before I was sitting with my dog and my budgie was on one of his perches he started flien round like he usually does but then his fllying started getting weaker and weaker and he went towards the door to go out and he fell on the floor my dog ran over to try and eat him but I stopped him just in time even when I had a hold of my dog my budgie still couldn't fly I picked him up and see if he was hungry but he wasn't could he have a parasite? or could he have just worn himself out?

I don't want this to happen again because I would never forgive myself if anything worse happened

  1. Maybe he's scared, or he needs company, get another budgie he needs someone to be with.

  2. It could be just one of the budgies "frights"

When Budges get frightened, they will quickly jolt and fly around untill they are exhausted. It can be dangerous if one of wing feathers or tail gets caught between the cage bars.

I would say it was your dog that probably scared the living daylights out of your budgie. Birds aren't that fond of dogs and can be easily scared out of their wits by them and start flying. Its a natural instinct, So don't worry. Just be careful.

  3. Did the dog actually grab him??if not then,he should be ok, and if he doesn't get much flying exercise normally, then yes, he could have just worn himself out a bit..has he recovered after being put back in his cage?

  4. Did you put him in the cage now ? Is he sitting on the floor of the cage ? I don't mean to scare you, but if he is sitting on the floor he's not ok.
