Something wrong with my chest/throat?

I'm 17 years old and about five months ago, after brushing my teeth, I coughed up something that resembled a few bits of rice, flattened and stuck together. At the time, I thought nothing of it as I thought it had just been stuck in my teeth or something. However, it then recurred about five months later and I was a bit worried. Now it's happening once every few days. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it gets a bit stuck in my throat and I have no idea what it is.

On top of that, about five days ago, I had a strange feeling when I started to eat or drink. I could feel it going down my throat, and it hurt a bit at the top of my chest. It only lasted about an hour or so and then went away, but it just happened again a few minutes ago. Right now I can feel a very dull pain right in the top of my chest. It's not particularly painful, but I am a little worried and it made eating difficult.

So are these two things related? And what are they?

  1. It's heart burn or acid reflux. It may cause the symptoms you describe, yes even the chest pain. You should go to the doctor and get some medication. Good luck!
