Sometime in the future this planet will be destroyed. How do you think that will happen?

Earth's life cannot survive the sun burning out and expanding past the earth's orbit. So one day at one time or another the earth will be destroyed. What do you think would be happening on the earth at the time they know its just going to happen?

The probe sent from some distant planet will monitor the death of this planet and send back vital scientific information about the death of stars before being destroyed. It will also send tantalising information to fuel a debate as to whether intelligent life once existed here, information that will, unfortunately, not be conclusive...

I suspect one of two things will have happened by then.  

Either the human race will have settled its differences, and left the Earth, on voyage into space (or a representative sample of them).  

Or, the human race will have destroyed itself long before the Earth will die.
