Sometimes my automatic car doesn't move when i take foot off the brakes?

very rarely when im in D(drive) it doesn't move when i take foot off the brakes ....then i have to step on the gas pedal but then it moves with a jerk...is this normal?? i never had an automatic before!!

  1. yes , its a safety feature, the car wont move until you use the gas,  in D unless you are facing downhill,  start engine, foot on brake, into D, handbrake off..foot on gas..off you go...why have gears? (I stay in UK)


  2. hmmm, that doesnt sound good. usually that would only happen if you are on a slight incline upwards.. if its happening when you are going downhill or on a flat road then you need to get your tranny looked at. Hopefully you still got a warranty.

  3. u need to learn stick shift  and get a manual car because automatic trans cost more than manuals trans

  4. Check the transmission fluid level first and then look at the color of it as well, it should be somewhat red in color..

  5. yieks ....sounds like you got a bad transmission..... fyyi they can run from $1,000to $3000

  6. Na that's sweet as i had the same problem and thought something wrong so i took it into the local garage. they charged me 50 bucks just to look at it and said nothing was wrong! so i wasted all that time and gas for nothing
