Somewhere in Siberia.. sounds like "tiger"?

Question

Was just watching Ray Mear's on tv and he was in Siberia.. he said the lakeland/forest area he was at was called something similiar to "tiger".. anyone know what the correct spelling is?

Taiga is actually the name for a biome or stretch of land with plants as in a forest.This one stretches across Siberia and beyond so it is probably that to which Ray Mears was referring.
