  1. Gruss Gott!

The best quick piece of information I can offer is here:

            www.aboutvienna.com

You could print some pages for yourself...

look in the left hand margin of the 1st page and click on "Best Addresses" .... it will offer information for nice places like a Kaffeehaus or two to visit for some Viennese coffee and pastry ... and tell you what coffees are like and the pastry that goes with them... and it goes on and on... there is information about the concert scene and restaurants and all sorts of stuff ... you pick!  There are clothes to buy,  antiques,  and all sorts of food ...

Be sure to dress nicely.   Just in case you feel like going to the Sacher Hotel for coffee,  for example ... it is very fancy... old,  and beautiful ... you cannot go wrong with a nice tweed suit  .... and a lovely pair of low heeled pumps ... and a nice pin.   The gentlemen ... the same sort  of thing. Don't forget a concert,  or to look for Austrian clothes... men's clothes are especially beautiful.  And chocolates... buy some chocolates,  and pastry to take back to your hotel,  or with some wine to take to your friends for dinner...

Find a nice warm bus and take a tour around the city... that is best and quickest!

    Have fun

    Peace & Love

  2. Depends on what you want to do and how much time you have on your trip...

...but my all time favourites are:

    The Wurstlprater.

The Prater is Vienna's most popular fun fair. Here one can enjoy a great view from the giant Ferris wheel or just eat cotton candy all day long!

    The Spanish Riding school.

It is the oldest and last Riding School in the world where classic dressage is still practised in its purest form.

The tickets are horredoulsy expensive and the performances are often fully booked for month in advance but if you get hand on a ticket - don't hesitate to buy it, maybe you won't get a second chance!

    The Danube Island.

It's a island in the middle of the city. You find lots of bars and restaurants there plus there's a great beach for a warm summer day. In mid-June there's a big festival with international acts on the Danube Island, normally the same weekend as the Glastonbury Festival.

    www.donauinsel.at (sorry, no English site)

There are hundreds of other sights, especially palaces, museums and churches. Take a guided tour, visit most of them from the outside and decide for which of these you want to pay an entrance fee.

Another funny place is the "Kunst-Haus-Wien" built by the famous Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Weird guy...

Have a look at the homepage and see what I mean:

I'm sure you've never seen a house like this before!

    Enjoy your stay!

  3. Em, there's some toilets around Karlsplatz... you can "go" there. (scratches head)
