Son diagnosed with adhd/bi-polar?

hi my son is 9 and was diagnosed with adhd/bi-polar adhd was diagnosed last year and bi polar diagnosed yesterday. he is taking meds for the adhd.

my question is i am being told by friends that i could get help with exspenses by applying for social securtiy. that would be a big help considering his dad hasn't paid a cent in nine years. does anyone no if this is true or not? and if so where do i even start . thank you in advance for your answers. 10 points for the best. thanks again.

I can tell you that you will not be able to get social security from him being adhd and bipolar, but you can go to the health and human services dept and apply for medicaid- which if he is accepted will be more then a god send. Also if you do not qualify they can get you to a clinic where you can get the meds for free. We have a place here that is called Helen Farabee Clinic. You have to set up a consultation appt and from there they will set you up for gettings the meds for free.

    I think this will depend on your income also and your ability to pay.  You may also get it at a discount or totally free.  My husband who was unemployed got his meds from the doctor for 3 months for free.  He had to fill out paperwork but it was great.
