  1. my son is 5.5 months and has been rolling over for a couple of weeks, its fine for them to sleep on their stomach as long as he can lift his head and roll over.

  2. The reason why we are advised these days to put babies on their back to sleep is that it it is a contributing factor in SIDS. If you have a little one that likes his tummy, not a lot you can do - as someone else said, you Will be up and down all day & night flipping him back over! I would test it out and either try to turn him over now or, if you don't want to wake him, just see what happens next time.

  3. Once babies can roll then it is o.k. for them to sleep on their tummy.  My baby prefer sleeping on her belly, we always put her to sleep on her back but she just rolls over on her own.

    Best of luck

  4. My girlfriend and I where talking about this tonight.  Once they roll over on there own let them sleep on there belly.  I always laid mine down on there backs and if they rolled over I left them on there bellies.  Like the others have said make sure all the soft fluffy stuff is out of the crib and he can pick his head up on his own.

  5. I would let him sleep. If he can flip over, it is okay to let him sleep that way.

  6. Yeah you should roll him over.   You can try rolling a small towel and placing it at his side to prevent him from flipping back over again.  They also sell sleep wedges and positioners in stores, you can get them at Walmart for fairly cheap. It's not safe to let him sleep like that until he is old enough to easily roll over from his tummy to his back.

  7. He should be fine, by now I'm sure he can lift his own head. My daughter did the same thing, i was freaked out in the beginning too and would check her every 5 minutes but i never rolled her over coz i didn't want to wake her.

  8. Many babies sleep on their bellies or roll over onto their bellies through out the night, even the newborns.  I'm sure he will be okay. Do you have a monitor?   Can he lift his head up?  Is your crib clear of a bumper, blankets, toys?   If yes, don't worry about it.  If not, flip him over.

Although since yours asking this question, you will probably worry all night long.  So go ahead and flip him over so you can get some rest too.   There will be a point when he is crawling and climbing the crib you will no longer need to worry about SIDS etc...

  9. Yes turn him over..It's safer

  10. If he is old enough to roll to his tummy he'll be fine.  My son is the same age and i just now got him sleeping in his crib, he loves being there cause he can lay on his tummy.  The only time you should be concerned is if they can't lift their heads or necks up, that's when they can suffocate, but being 5.5 i wouldn't worry too much, let the bub sleep, if you are really worried after every ones answer, flip him over and call his doc tomorrow, they'll tell you for sure if its okay and put your mind to rest.

  11. He's fine.  When they learn to roll, a lot of times they will sleep on their bellys.  As long as they're at least 3-4 mos old, they are usually ok on their bellys.  But if you are going to be worried about it all night, flip him over for your sanity.

  12. yes

  13. i would put him on his back

sometimes it's not safe if they fall asleep on their stomach because they can suffocate. so i think you should

  14. If he is old enough to turn over, it's ok. All 4 of my kids have slept on their tummies. You can't spend your time turning him over all night, it will drive you crazy. Just make sure all the bedding isn't heavy & there aren't any toys he can suffocate on if he turns over during the night. :)

  15. As long as he is able to roll over on his own, he should be fine.  If there are any special medical concerns, or you aren't comfortable with him sleeping on his tummy, call his pediatrician and talk about your concerns with them.  I think he will be fine though ;).

  16. No, don't wake him up

  17. i don't think you should turn him, because you are just going to wake him up and he might start crying and stuff.

  18. At that age, no. As long as he is strong enough to pick up his head he is fine. My son does that all the time too.

  19. At 3.5-4 months my daughter started to sleep on her belly.  Its fine since they can lift their heads up.

  20. If he's never done it before i would definatly just flip him back over. I konw they say that if they're rolling over then they can sleep on their bellies, but if he's never done it before i would just make sure of it. If he wakes up by just being a jostled a little bit then i wouldn't worry about it. But if not..go for it, it will help you feel better.
