My son is turning 18 years old. And has planned a party. He has told me that more than likely there will be alcohol that his friends will bring. Will I get in trouble if I allow them to bring it in. I am not buying it for them so does that matter. I want my son to have fun on his Birthday but I do not want to get in trouble if cops show up.

  1. How on Earth can someone get in trouble for drinking at 18? Legal age is 16!

  2. Well its your house so you WILL be responsible. Try your best to make sure that everything stays in some control just enough that cops wont show up. I wouldnt worry too much if anything it will all go away with a warning IF anything does happen!

  3. Even of the cops don't show up and nobody finds out .... the kids will put the pictures on "My Space" or "Facebook." The police in some jurisdictions routinely peruse these sites and track down the houses where these underage drinking parties happened . . . . AND THEN THEY ARREST THE PARENTS!

  4. You'll get in trouble if it's in your house and they're drinking it.

  5. Yes your responsible with your house.  I had this friend who was driving his friend who had weed and my friend had no idea.He got pulled over and his "friend" dropped the weed in his car on the ground, the cop found it and my friend got into trouble.  Its the same thing with houses, if its in your house or you property your responsible for it.

  6. Yes.  It is called being an adult on the premesis when minors are drinking alcohol.  IF your son has friends under 18 drinking there HE can get in trouble.

So if things don't work well both of you could go to jail on his birthday.  I would re-think this if I were you.  Times have changed.

  7. Since its in your home..  yes YOU can get in trouble for allowing underage drinking in your home.

Your son does not need to drink to have fun.

  8. yes if its iin your house

  9. he should have the party somewhere else then

cuz youe responsible if its in your house

  10. If the cops show you will get a fine for every underage at your house knowing or not its there. Also if anyone leaves drunk (driving or not) your in alot of trouble.

A party like that happend when I was in high school the parents lost their house because they had over 16,000 in fines not to mention jail time!

BAD IDEA...I wouldn't let this happen only because if it happends once it will happen again.

I would tell your son you would rather not have any drinking...explain why and keep checking in on them during this party...your son will hate it now but later in life once hes a dad will thank you!

  11. So let me get this straight - you're teaching your son it's okay to break the law?

You would honestly allow your 18-year-old son to get plastered with his friends?  Do you not know the kind of stupid sh*it teenagers do when drunk?

Your plan is just plain foolish.  Wise up as a citizen and parent.

  12. yes,

you'll get in trouble for it. and you'll go to jail.

the police have a nationwide intolerance for underage drinking.

so you had better leave that night for a while.

But atleast he told you about the party and the alcohol.

it made him kind of responsible enough to tell you.

so hopefully he has a brain, that will keep the music down and the people too. :)

my dad allows me the same things.

  13. Yes you will get in trouble. You are the adult and this is being held in your home. So you are responsible for anything that happens. So even if other kids bring alcohol, if the cops show up you will be held responsible.

  14. He can have fun without alcohol, and honestly, i can't believe your even considering it.

Whether you provide it or not, it is YOUR house. If one of his friends get drunk got out and get himself or someone else killed, you will be responsible for it because you ALLOWED it in your house.

Save yourself a whole bunch of trouble and say NO>

  15. If it's in your house, you're responsible.

  16. Well in the news there was a story about a couple parents getting in trouble for a party. All the parents of the attendees knew there was alcohol, they signed consent forms, the parents took the keys of the kids when they came over and everyone was fine. But they got in trouble when a couple kids went outside and made a ruckus. It's illegal.

  17. if u get caught..yeah u still can get in trouble, cause there drinkin in ur house...

but if no one calls the cops then u won't get caught soo, i would say make sure everyone sleeps over that way there won't be any drinkin and driving and u won't have drunk teens goin home to there parents.

  18. Yes, you will get in trouble.

Haven't you seen the commercials that say, "You host, you lose"? Just because he's drinking it in your house doesn't mean it's okay. He's still 18 and that's underage.

And tell your son that it's possible to have fun without alcohol. What about throwing a big bonfire instead?

  19. Well, i'm young too. and i go to parties, with parents at home, where there is alcohol. and you just have to make sure YOU keeep it under control. if you see someone who seems to be drinking too much, STOP THEM. it's your house, so you need to make sure you keep it under control. but allow them to have a little fun. and also- don't let ANYONE drive home after drinking. if you have to let the kids crash at your house, thats alawys best.

  20. No alcohol!!!! Contributing to a delinquency of minors!!!! In Illinois there is a couple in prison because they knew their son was having a party w alcohol, 4 kids drove home, now they are DEAD!!!! NO ALCOHOL!!! I know its cool but you are responsible. For all of the kids there not just yours!  Come on mom, its better to be smart than be cool at this age. He will thank you later when he has kids and gets it.

  21. Yes, if you allow children to drink in your house you will be held responsible.

Sure, what's a few days in jail right?  As long as your son is having fun?

But what if someone gets hurt.  Can you live with yourself being responsible for someone's death because you wanted your son to have a good time?  There are far too many parents out there dealing with that kind of guilt.  Don't be one of them.

  22. just but non alchoholic beer and tell them its real
