Question:

Son is stuff only month old?

My son was born July 17th so he's about 5 weeks old I guess now.

He is stuffy in his nose, but I use saline and leave it in for like 15 seonds to 30 seconds and then I suck his nose out and I *BARELY* get anything out, he still sounds stuffy afterwards.

I use a humidifer all day, and all night

I have cherry chest rub on hi chest, throat area (on body) and under his nose above his lip. Just a little on each area (okay by doctor and did the same with two other kids when they were little)

He sneezes and nothing comes out

His chest sounds fine

I also have tried the steam from having shower on in the bathroom and that doesn't seem to do much

Any other ideas?

  1. sorry no  answers but im having the same problem my son is 5 weeks old and he also snores really loud like he cant breath. when i sit him in his swing he seems to be a little better.. also on a slight incline. i will sit him in his boppy pillow instead of flat on the bed also

  2. I am exactly the same!!! same age and everything!

I found that if you put the saline in, leave it for about 10 seconds then tip baby forward( like your going to burp him) and then try to suck iot out, it might get more.

Also my doctors says that if its not distressing the baby, then not to be concerned about it.

  3. My baby girl had a few colds when she was younger and i gave her the feeds closer together, because the swollowing action also makes the mucous go the same way, that was the only way to get my girl to swallow. I also gave her some warm boiled water but some people don't like to give their newborns water so bottle of breast will work.

I also, put the head of her mattress up so her head was raised, again to help mucous slide down the back of her throat, i just did this but putting phone books under the mattress, when she laid flat she got more snot and was harder foe her to breath.

    I hope this helps you,

    good luck

  4. Stop guessing and take him to the doctors.

  5. I dont have any ideas or answers for you but I am dealing with the same problem!! Nothing comes out..I considered buying one of those battery operated nasal aspirators from walmart!! Good luck!!

  6. Youdon't have to do all that just because they sound stuffy.  Unless your baby is having trouble feeding, leave it alone!
