Howdy, all you fine people in Yahoo-ville!

Now then, I'm having a Gothic/Victorian wedding on Halloween. I'm searching for some appropriate music to burn for gift cd's for my guests--something along the lines of Enigma/HIM/Enya, etc. Chanty-stuff would be ok, too. Any suggestions for dark, gothic-y songs or bands? Your help is mucho appreciado.

More: I plan on walking down the 'aisle' to Dave Matthews Band "Crash". Any ideas for an exit song? I'm having my wedding party walk into the ceremony area to this song:

Also, if anyone knows the name of the first song in this video, I will love you forever and a day:

I even went so far as to contact the site that put up that video and they don't know.......of course.

This is the type of thing I'd like to find. Soooooooooooooooo.....

Any ideas?

    Rasputina

    Within Temptation

    Cradle of Filth

  2. i dont kno any  gothic bands but i kno a few heavy metal bands and punk bands

  3. The first answer made me laugh a bit.. Anyhow!

These are more classical, I guess you could say..

Funeral March for a Marionette (Charles Gounod)

J.S. Bach Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565: Toccata (J.S. Bach) * I love this piece and have heard it used as a processional.

Funeral March from Sonata in B-Flat Minor, Op. 35 (Frederic Chopin)

Ride of the Valkyries (Richard Wagner)

Then there's Dead Can Dance, Within Temptation, Switchblade Symphony, Gothica..

  4. We're having a dark romanticism/Edgar Allen Poe/Phantom of the opera sort of theme. We're wanting more orchestrated music but maybe some of our selections would interest you.

Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in D minor

Danse Macabre(Dance of Death) by Saint-Saens

    Moonlight sonata by Beethoven

    Carmina Burana by Orff

    Montagues and Capulets by Prokofieff.

Soundtracks for Phantom (of course) Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet.

Danny Elfman's works and stuff by Franz Reizenstein

Maybe stuff by The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Birthday Party, Oingo Boingo, Bauhaus.

My fiance reccomends Virgin Black he says they're similar to HIM. Also Type O Negative and Cradle of Filth.

  5. WOW! that sounds so freakn COOL! I bet it's going to be a beautiful affair!! you have got to make sure you send me a link when and/if you post photographs, I would LOVE to see them!

i was kinda planning my alternative wedding like that, but I'm sort of a metalhead while my fiance is a mixture of mostly stoners music and a little metal (ie: Mastodon, Lamb of God). He's making sure we plan plently of Bob Marely in there too.

Anyway, enough about me and back to the blushing bride, I say that H.I.M. is probably the best band for love music- esp. anything off of Razorblade Romance

hope this helps and happy wedding day!

there's also Cake- they're the band that created the theme song for the short-lived cartoon, Mission Hill.  songs from Comfort King are great

  6. Hi there. Perhaps try artists like Gregorian Chant or ERA or perhaps even some songs by Evanescence

For the ceremony you could also look at the following:

    Hymne - Vangelis

Nothing Else Matters - Apocalyptica (cello version of the metalica song)

Now We Are Free - Lisa Gerrard (from Gladiator)

  7. ur haveing a gothic wedding and u want and  APPROPRATE  wedding song

    LMAO
