  1. try it out on your voice if it is too hard don't do it, I have no idea what your range and level of damage is, all I can say is drink tea with honey and lemon, try "Air" from Hair too or "Kind of Woman" from pippin

(funny all 70's musicals that type of music must have been in vogue then)

  2. Hi,

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and you really should not sing when you are ill.  You run the chance of ruining your voice...You are not going to be able to sing high either.  You might do better with an alto part for now....You could try I know the truth from Aida or Days of Plenty from Little Women. You must love me from Evita is about the easiest song in the world for musical theatre...

  3. I would try something like "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables.  It's in the high range, soft, and should be a great audition song to show the sweet side to your voice.

Make sure to drink warm (decaffeinated) tea with honey before the audition.  The warmth of the tea will loosen your vocal folds and the honey will coat them to give you the most voice.  Also remember that whispering actually strains more than regular speaking.  Using a steam vaporizer before the audition will also help keep things lubricated.

    Good luck!
