Song re: growing up, parenting styles, independence...?

Question

I'm looking for songs (or even short video clips) depicting a change in parenting over the years. Parenting has gone from being very strict and using physical discipline to being more tolerant and child-centered. I can use any songs relating to the change or the fact that we as a society are producing more independent young adults (that's the goal at least). So any songs remotely relevant would be great--thanks so much!!
