Does anyone know of any songs written about someone dying, or commiting suicide? Preferably from the persona of a dad dying.

*I'm not a depressing person, its needed for a video project* :)

I've always wanted to put together a collection of songs that deal with death and dying. I'm not a morbid person, but its always been a curiosity, a way to cope and find inspiration :) So thanks for asking this question, cuz it helped me out. Here are some songs that have caught my attention. Some are obvious, some are subtle, and some are just personal interpretations. 'when september ends' by Green Day is about Billy-Joe's (lead singer) dad dying, has the lyrics 'like my father's come to pass, 7 years has gone so fast, wake me up when september ends', and talks about the pain of losing him. Hope that helps!

"Vincent" by Don McLean. It's about the life of Vincent van Gogh and how he tried to deal with his depressions and the fact, that he wasn't being succesful as a painter. It also says how he killed himself. It's a beautiful song!

I also like "Mary of the wild moor" by Johnny Cash. It's not about someone comitting suicide, but about someone dying.
