Question:

Songs for a lyrical solo or a tap duet.?

We are 15, and both of us in the duet are very strong in tap, but lyrical is very new to me, but i absolutely love it. We are looking for something really fast for the tap. I'd prefer something country for the lyrical duet, but it really doesn't matter what genre the music is, as long as it's relatively slow and easy to choreograph something to, because i'd like to do that myself. Thanks for all your help!

  1. For lyrical you could try "so naive". It is originally by the kooks but for a much softer and slower version try Lily Allen's cover of it (not country but still amazing). As an alternative, try "I hope", "easy silence" or "silent house" by the Dixie Chicks. For tap, try "I got rhythm"(I don't know who sings it) or "a little less conversation" by Elvis.

    Hope I helped!

  2. well if you are male and female one of my favorites is "here's to love" from "down with love" I don't know how age appropriate it would be but you could probably change around some of the lyrics and make it work.

  3. It's hard to make a suggestion for the tap routine since you didn't really specify what style you are going with.  Are you doing a more modern tap with hip hop influences, if so there are a ton of great hip hop songs that have a steady beat that would be great for tap.  If you are going with a more classic style then choose a show tune or something by Frank Sinatra or another classic standard.  Or if you want it to be more cutting edge and hard hitting try a rock or alternative peice by a band like Nickleback.

For the lyrical, I Hope You Dance by Leann Womack is a great one.  I also love You Are Everything by Matthew West (I've been dying to choreograph something to that.)

Just find a song that moves you.

    Break a leg!

  4. For the lyrical you could try "Broken" by Lindsay Haun. Or "Your House" by Alanis Morisette. The second isn't really country, but it's amazing for a lyrical.

For the tap you could try "I'm Not Okay" by My Chemical Romance,  but get the clean version. "Footloose" also works. You could also try "Sandstorm". All three are really different from each other, but they all have a relatively upbeat tempo and are easy to tap to.
