I just got a new iPod nano, only for some reason iTunes won't download properly (see my other question) so instead I got Winamp. It seemed to work perfectly fine until i went into my songs list and they weren't alphabetized. It does like groups of songs in alphabetical order and then it starts all over again! It's so annoying and i don't know what the problem is. They're all alphabetized in the player just not on my iPod. Can anyone help?!!!

  1. Okay This should solve both of your problems.

It sounds to me like you have a corrupted iTunes installer. It happens, either the file on your start-up disc (if you ever got one) is messed up, or the download was incomplete.

First go into your computer's library. In a mac it's under HD/Library. on a PC go to Add/remove programs. Look for anything that is iTunes related. Get rid of it. in a Mac it's a simple matter of deleting it, on the PC remove the program.

download iTunes again, from the official website. www.itunes.com

re-install. It should work. Winamp is horrible for iPod syncing, no matter what anybody tells you. The only time you should get an error when installing a program is when it's corrupted or the download was incomplete. Keep in mind, if you're using a dial-up connection the rate of failed downloads for large files is exponential.

Tell iTunes where your music is through the preferences/options (advance>general>iTunes Music Library Folder)

To be safe, try downloading the file from a broadband connection at a friend's place and burning it to CD.

Once you have iTunes up and running, go to the iPod men screen (click on the iPod icon on the left hand source menu) and restore. This will get the iPod up and running on factory defaults and install the latest firmware update. remember, firmware updates are ONLY available on iTunes.
