Songs to sing for audition??????

im auditioning for pippin any ideas what to sing at auditiions??

  1. Hi! I would do a little digging through your library's old broadway musical Cd's for songs. You'll want to pick a song that clearly defines your range, as well as demonstrates you can excel in the range of whatever part you'll audition for. I would suggest a oldie-but-goodie (it may bring back fond memories for the director, and make you stick out in his or her mind) or a lesser known song (such as one from a broadway flop, or an off broadway musical.) The director will apprecieate your efforts to save his or her ears from another rousing rendition of "Tomorrow." Also, pick songs in the style of Pippin's songs (same tempo, style, etc.). I would stay away from songs from Pippin, though. If your director wants to hear you sing Magic To Do, then they'll ask. Be sure to familiarize yourself with all the songs, so you won't be stumbling in the dark should they call on you to sing a song not sung by the character you want to get.
