Sonny Bill Williams ready for action against Reds - Super Rugby update
Crusaders right wing, Sonny Bill Williams, is excited to perform in their upcoming mega-match against the Super Rugby number one seed, Queensland Reds. Williams is making a come-back into the side along with Brad Thorn after healing from a knee injury. Sunday’s
clash against the Australian derby Reds will be both players first after injury. He told the media today about his dangerous intentions and said that he will try to help his side with a stunning victory over the Reds.
Bill Williams, who missed the last game against the Chiefs, due to severe injury to his knee, said that he loves playing at Suncorp Stadium. He recalled his National Rugby League days and said that the venue is one of his favourite stadiums and he was hopeful
that he could give a good performance. The much anticipated match will draw a huge crowd of more than 40,000 who will give the star player a chance to showcase his rugby live on May 29th.
He was cleared on Thursday to participate in one of the biggest games of the Super Rugby season by the medical panel and so he is excited. Talking to reporters in the practice session, he said it was his utmost desire to play along with Brad Thorn against
the Reds. He added that, "They're talking over 40,000 (spectators) already so it will be an awesome atmosphere. I love playing in the big games, but you're only as good as your last performance so I want to go out on the big stage and show again that I can
play rugby."
Williams has made his Super Rugby debut this year for the Crusaders and has been highly successful in this season. Noting his excellent performance in the current season, the Crusaders head coach Todd Blackadder, asked New Zealand Rugby Union to offer him
special incentives like Dan Carter and Richie McCaw.
Blackadder was also hopeful about Williams’ good performance in a crucial match against the Reds. He said that, "He has brought a bit of enthusiasm back. He trained really well today and is refreshed and excited. He certainly wants to be involved in this
game and that's great for us."
Richie McCaw will lead the side against the Queensland Reds, in the 14th round match of Super Rugby on May 26.
