  1. Assuming that Sonny Liston is in his right frame of mind, in perfect condition and properly trained, I'd bet my money on him.  I said this because Liston was a shadowy figure whose ignorance and lack of education pretty much denied him the mental toughness and concentration needed to beat great fighters, and like Tyson later on, he had this tendency to self-destruct in the ring because of his personal problems.  But as I've said, if he's in good mental state at fight night, he'd overpower Louis with his physical strength and devastating punches, not to mention his speed, which is underrated.  Liston had the best jab in heavyweight history - a jab that could knock down ordinary heavyweights.  This would be his best tool against Joe all night.  And once he connects with body shots and blows to the head, Joe Louis would be in trouble.  My prediction? Liston by KO in 8.

  2. Liston would give a fight but Louis would win by KO

  3. Joe Louis.

  4. Are you kidding me?  Joe Louis would beat Sonny Liston seven days a week, and twice on Sunday.

Louis was one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. Liston successfully defended his heavyweight title exactly ONE time before losing to Cassius Clay (aka Muhhamad Ali).

  5. This would be a good fight but Liston often punched wide and Louis was a short, accurate puncher with good speed. Liston had a great jab though and if he could get it going against Joe he could give him trouble for a few rounds, but I see Louis just being to accurate for Sonny and landing good short punches and stopping him in the middle rounds.

  6. thats a realy good question, and nobody can raly predict the winner because both of these guys have super knockout power, Liston is way longer than Loius, they boxed in defferent eras so its though to say who wins, Id say Joe

  7. Good answer Toughguy. Isnt it odd as soon as you mention jealous trolls Buster comes out of the closet to comment, hmmm. And notice that in-depth comment he gave (HeHe) Also of note Was his comment on the "Tyson vs. Dempsey" question. ( "Tyson would have retired Jack inside 3 rounds.") WOW, what another in-depth, detailed answer from the great Buster.

If you have a problem with me because I happen to have respect for Toughguy and many others on here, well thats just too dam.n bad. Toughguy and several others show alot of class. I,m not as classy as them, so kiss off. Well now boy, go on over there in the corner and have yourself a good little cry. ( And dont forget to give me my many thumbs down from your multiple accounts.)

Jeez, Buster ALREADY deleted his answer.

  8. Two of the greatest heavyweights ever to lace on the gloves.  Louis is probably going to get knocked down early in the fight but when in his prime Louis was one of the best technically skilled heavyweights of all time.  Liston stays in this fight until the end of the 14th.  Louis win by KO.

As a side note Liston is ranked low in most heavyweight polls  but if in his prime against any heavyweight would you bet against him?

    Toughguy --  good answer

  9. lmao at the guy who said joe louis sucked.

  10. joe louis

  11. probably louis, but liston always had a chance to come out and overwhelm someone, like he did to floyd patterson. liston was just a mean, grimy, son of a b***, he was just meaner and uglier, and had a black empty space in his soul, and i just like to bet on fighters like that.

  12. Well, Sonny couldn't fight.  He was an awful boxer.  He was very slow and had a very poor defense.  He really never beat a quality fighter.

When finally faced with a class boxer, in Clay, Sonny showed how bad he was.

Joe was almost as bad as Sonny.  Louis was an extremely over-rated heavyweight champ.  He, too, rarely fought a truly talented boxer.

But, of the two, Louis was better, and he would've beaten Sonny.

  13. Joe Louis is definetly one of the greatest heavyweight champs in boxing history and could do it all.  He could knock you out with either hand, had killer instict, fast hands, and good boxing skills.  He used his jab which was a very solid and hard one to set up his devstating punches.  Liston was also a very good boxer with a lot of power known for his menacing scowl.  This would not be an easy fight for either man.  Liston would have the reach advantage and Louis the speed advantage in a fight that would start off in a very cautious manner.  Both men would size each other up landing pulverizing jabs.  A big difference in this fight would probably be stamina and Louis has that over Liston.  In the 10th round Louis would catch a tiring Liston with a devastating 3 punch combo and send him to the canvas.  Liston would barely beat the count.  After looking into the eyes of Liston, the referee would halt the contest and declare Louis the winner.

Wow!  6 thumbs down already for no good reason?  Could it be some jealous trolls?

Untouchable uhh I mean s****. Doo, please grow up and just answer the questions please.
