Question:

Sony Alpha300 or Canon Xti...which one?

I am going mad trying to see which is the better camera. Have read all the reviews. Like the IS on the body of the Sony, versus the lens of the Canon, also like the live view of the Sony. Yet, not sure which avenue best to go. Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated. I was also considering the Nikon line, but still have the AF in the lens instead of the body.

Please, opinions....

  1. IMO Sony is raising the bar for entry-level DSLR cameras.

With 26 branded lenses and the new Carl Zeiss T* line of lenses and the ability to use every legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 you'll have plenty of lenses to choose from.

Most of the accessories for the Konica-Minolta D5 & D7 DSLR cameras are also compatible with the A300.

My vote is for the A300.

  2. Hello! I am a photographer and understand your hesitation. Choose, depending on what you are looking for, but I would suggest you either Sony, because they have (and will) issued some good lens, though they have to learn a lot from Canon and Nikon, or Canon EOS 450D/40D. Canon is without IS, but if you are not short of cash, you can buy stabilized lens for Canon. But first you should consider what you need the cam for, and what suitable lenses are there + prices, etc. So, if you want immediate IS, Live View and good lenses you have to choose Sony Alpha 300 (though 350 is slightly better) and a good optics for that, again depending on what you are going to shoot. Be patient and Sony will get higher in the image quality and else...

    Good luck!
