  1. A quick way would be to connect the camcorder to a VCR and make a copy.  

    A better approach would be to copy to a digital format.  Some MiniDV camcorders have a pass though feature which allows them to act as an analog / digital converter - you connect your Sony to the MiniDV camcorder and the MiniDV camcorder to a firewire port on your PC and then you can make a digital backup on the PC.

    You could use a TV capture card in your PC, but the quality's likely to be poor- better than nothing though.

    You could use an external capture device such as the Pinnacle Dazzle or the Kworld Professional DVD Maker - I'm told the quality's quite good, though you'd be saving the video in a lossy format - not good if you want to edit it.

    The best quality would be to use one of the Canopus ADVC analog / digital converters.  That's the most expensive option, of course!
