Sony Cyber-shot 1.3 Mega Pixel

Question

I have not used my camera for awhile but on both my laptop and my desktop when plugging in my camera to the USB Port, I get a message saying "USB Device not recognized., one of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". The problem is the same message comes up on both of my computer and I have used 3 different USB cords. I am not sure what to do. I have Windows XP Operating System on my laptop and my desktop but have plugged into my desktop before. I did get the door fixed on my camera so it was not used for about a month. Please let me know what to do.
