Sony DCR-HC62 MiniDV handycam...is it right for me?

I have a DVD burner on my computer. I am using WindowsXP. I will be recording pictures of my 5 children indoors and outdoors. Does it have decent lighting(flash) for inside and is the audio o.k.? The battery...does it last long? DV is digital video...does that mean I have to constantly by new tapes? Can't I just upload everything to my computer. Is this process (handycam to computer to DVD) difficult and time consuming? I have a reg. dig. camera so still shots are of no importance. One more thing....I am buying it in Canada and using it in Europe...how do I charge the battery?

Thank you in advance for your advice and input everyone!

  1. Got one myself Great little camera works well and one big bonus is that you can put your edited film back onto the camcorder tape DVDs get damaged. and the cost of tapes is very little.  you will need to buy more tapes.

it does take time but you want good quality film yea? then take the time.

Batteries (how long is a piece of string) if you don't use it too much then it lasts for ages. just get a second battery

if you are buying a camera in Canada (don't know if you live there or not ) the plug will be different in Europe the charger works from 100v to 240v. anyway

    Just my opinion

  2. I think, knowing you as I do, that the DCR-HC63 MiniDV would better suit you.
