How is the video quality compared to what? This hard drive based camcorder (as with most) compresses the captured video a lot. Its video quality is better than DVD based camcorders and not as good as miniDV based camcorders.

You copy the files using a USB connection. The video can be edited.

If you record a long sequence, the video will be broken into 20-minute clips.

No consumer camcorder has good built-in mics. If you are doing loud audio, check the manual to see if Sony included a mic gain selection in the menu... "Normal" and "Low". You need to use "Low" for loud audio environments (like recording bands). If you don't, the audio will be muddy and useless - and cannot be "fixed" in editing (unless you replace the audio).
