Sony DCR-SR82 and Movie Maker?

Question

I cant work with movie maker to edit movies (MPG) I filmed with my camera recorder.... When I try to import them into my collections It says "An interface has too many methods to fire events from."...

help?... any movie editing programs to download online (guaranteed to work)? Anything?

MPEG isn't a great format for editing (I'm being polite!) but most commercial editors can do it.  I like Sony's Vegas Movie Studio for its power and versatility, but AVS Video Editor is a cheap alternative to WMM.
