Question:

Sony Ericsson K850i keeps switching itself off?

I upgraded phone on my contract in April 2008 from a K800i to a K850i. I have had no problems until recently. The phone switches itself off, no warning, the battery is full, even doing it when it's on the charger!! When i switch it back on the battery is usually flat even though before it switched off it was full.

I updated the software off the Sony Ericsson website and it stopped doing it for a few days but soon went back to switching off again. It's driving me mad. Last night it switched off again so i switched it back on and put it on charge (the battery was flat) then it went off again. I switched it back on again but it only came up with the Sony Ericsson logo before going off again. I tried to switch it back on several times before it actually stayed on all night. It seems temperamental as it is not a particular time of day. It usually does it when the phone is just left on my pc desk or in my room on charge. It sometimes does it when i receive or send a text and if i make or receive a phone call but not all the time.

Do any other K850i owners have this problem or is it just my phone?

By the way i am taking it back to the shop tomorrow and they will send it away for repairs. I will get it back after 10 days of having to use my old nokia 3310!!

  1. no i am on my 3rd phone which still turns its self off and the touch buttons work intermittently. When it actually works its not a bad phone but to be honest its that annoying i would just ask if you can swop for a different one

  2. call an exorcist.

  3. If you've already arranged to take it back to the shop, it doesn't really matter does it? It could be a faulty battery or handset. There aren't any user serviceable parts in there, so just hold on and see what happens. I have owned one of those in fact and I absolutely hated it with a passion. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I think Sony mobile products have gone downhill over the last couple years. Stick with Nokia. The N95 is a much better phone and has a far superior camera too.

  4. I had a k850i. It would constantly switch itself off and I always had to reset it for some reason I got in touch with orange as it was on contract and they came and took my old phone away and gave me a brand new one. I think there was a problem with the software on some of the earlier models. If I was you I'd take it back to the shop and tell them you want a replacement

    Good Luck
