Question:

Sony Ericsson W910i Fault?

Hi,

My Sony Ericsson W910i has suddenly started turning itself off & on and lighting up for hours with only a blank screen... all while being ignored on a table with no human interference!

The fault only started a few days ago but it's so bad it's unusable - Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks!

  1. Take the sim and battery out and make sure it is fine and if that doesn't help (do you have insurance) bring it down to the company you bought it eg. Orange and see what they can do.

  2. There has been lots of known faults on this phone, I'm on my 4th (and last) from Orange.

Haven't had the problem you have got but I would get in contact with your network provider, make them aware of the fault asap. As there is know issues with this handset, they'll probably replace the handset for you if it is less than a year old, though if you don't have insurance you may have to have a reconditioned one. Stan your ground and demand (as I did) to get a new handset.

I think there are certain batch numbers with faults but I know a friend mentioned that their mobile provider was replacing all ones bought before May 2008 if they were faulty.

  3. I have just recently upgraded my w910i but when I did have it I suffered only one fault with it and I contacted my service provider (3) and they exchanged it straight away for a new one.

    Hope this helps

  4. You've got the white screen of death. It happens A LOT with that phone. WSOD means just what it implies, your phone is dead.

There are three ways to rectify the situation:

    1. Call your provider and see if they'll do anything for you. They should offer you something because everyone knows that these phones are lemons.

    2. Take it to a level 2 repair shop and they can fix it. Usually costs like $30-40.

    3. Learn how to flash firmware and fix it yourself.

  5. Take it apart & clean the 'on' switch contacts - sounds like it's got wet.
