Question:

Sony HDD recorder, HELP?

I've just brought a Sony RDR-HXD870 and i'm having trouble connecting it to my LCD TV via an HDMI lead. I've tried disconnecting my sky box and just connect the TV and HDD with the HDMI lead, but when i put my t.v on to the HD source, it does nothing.

Until yesterday i was using a Samsung HDD and this was connected the same way with no probs!

It is really getting on my nerves now so any help would be much apprieciated.

  1. The way you are talking it seems you only have one hdmi socket on the lcd tv with you saying you unplugged your ky box to plug your hdd in,so you can buy one of these to run 2 things off one hdmi socket.Click the link to see.http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/pa...

As for setting up the hdd so you can watch it through your hdmi socket. If i was you id try setting up first with a normal scart lead then go into the settings on the hdd and if it's like my Panasonic hdd there should be a setting for hdmi.If there is put the setting onto on and then try again connecting with the hdmi lead instead of the scart lead.Good luck hope this helps you out

  2. turn on the tv

then turn on the Sony. Do you see the logo in the screen?

If you put a DVD, can you see it?

If not, unplugging/plugging back the HDMI cable on the TV side, it helps.
