Sony HDR-SR11 / HDR-SR12 question?

hi i have a HDR-SR7 and it has a remote mini jack for my tripod controls next to its DC power-in. i am thinking of upgrading to SR11 or SR12 but does it doesn't have that remote jack..... is there any way i can use my remote (not the wireless remote) with it? plz help thx

That "remote mini jack for my tripod controls" is called LANC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LANC

If there is no LANC port, then you cannot use the wired LANC control with those camcorders.

The miniDV tape based HDR-FX1 and HDR-HC9 both have a LANC port and will provide you with less compressed HDV resulting in better high definition video quality than the highly compressed AVCHD format the SR11/SR12 provide.

For that matter, the HDR-FX7, HVR-A1U, HVR-V1U, HVR, V1U - actually, all the miniDV pro camcorders can use LANC... and you can look for yourself - No AVCHD here... http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-broadca...
