Question:

Sony Handycam Battery Will Not Charge?

Ok, I have this Sony Handycam DCR-HC26. I have a battery for it that I bought.

It says on the back:

POWER 2000 For Sony NP-FP 70/71

7.2V 1600mAh Li-ion

On the bottom, etched, it reads: VC0609

Now, i used it before, and it worked great. It sat for a while, but now when I attempt to charge it, the charge light goes on for about 45 seconds, and turns off. The battery will only work for about 2 min, and then dies. I plug it in, same problem.

What could be wrong? is there something I can do to revive it? Is this on of those "memory effect" batteries?

I hope I can fix it. I have no warranty on it or anything.

Thanks!

  1. The Battery May Have The 'Memory Effect'. If This Is The Case You Will Need A Charger With A 'Conditioning' Cycle (A  Discharge/Recharge) That Removes The Memory Effect. Or The Cell May Be Defective (Especially If Its Been Dropped) And May Need To Be Replaced.

    Good-Luck!!
