  1. The Sony DCR-HC62 is a miniDV based camcorder.

    Transferring video from the tape using USB will not work. The drivers are no longer supported. You need to use Firewire (also known as IEEE1394a and i.Link). Once you have a working Firewire400 port working on your computer and connect the DV port on the camcorder to the computer's firewire port with a firewire cable, it "just works. You do not need device-specific drivers (like USB typically requires).

    USB is used only for transferring stills off the memory card or maybe using the camcorder for web streaming.
