Sony Handycam (DVD403) bad mini-disk ... advice ?

My 9 year old son caught a big bass the other day. It was about twice the length of my sneaker so at least 20 inches long. He was ecstatic (I don't know where he gets it from I can't stand fishing). We photographed it with my camcorder (Sony DVD403 Handycam) but when I tried to finalise the disk it failed. Now the disk can't be read by the camera, DVD player or computer.

Does any one know of any tools to extract data from a bad DVD ?
