Question:

Sony Handycam Firewire Help?

Well I have Adobe Premiere Pro for Mac ( recently got this )and earlier today I tried uploading some footage from my Sony Handycam. The camera came with a USB cord ( had it for about 2 years now ) and no matter what I could not capture the footage. I looked it up and it said Adobe only recognizes Firewire. So I went to Best Buy today and picked up the cord. I get home and my camera does not support it for some reason and I am really upset. Is there anything I can do? Is there any adapter or something to where I can capture the footage into Adobe?

  1. usually, only tape-based digital vcams (miniDV & digi-8) are equipped w/ firewire ports. the video stream is captured from the vcam while on playback via video capture or video editor and a video file is created.

other storage media vcams like hdd, dvd, flash media are most likely equipped only w/ usb ports, which is just perfect as the video file has already been created in the storage media - file transfer to mac then is much simpler thru explorer file mgr.

  2. mention camera model
