Sony Handycam vision Video Hi8 USB?

Do you know where the usb port is on this SONY camcorder? I can NOT find it. Please help me?

I have the same camcorder and what you have to do is get a capture card (external or internal) like these ones http://www.compusa.com/applications/cate...  Most popular ones are Dazzle or Easycap. Hook up the A/V cord to the capture device and the software should tell you how to record it onto your computer for editing and burning to a disc. Also, I suggest, that you use an S-Video cord instead of composite (the yellow part of the A/V cord) It will give you better video.  

If you don't want to edit the video and just want to share it, you can put the video onto a VHS tape. It should say how to do it in the manual.

I had the same question... My grandma wanted to get me one for my B-day but I need one that can be uploaded on my Laptop...

Anyone know if there's one that I can get for cheap enough... 250$ or less?

Hi8 camcorders don't have USB or firewire connections.  You'll need to use the AV connections and an analog to digital converter such as the Kworld DVD Maker or Pinnacle Dazzle.

USB was not on computer systems when this camera was originally designed and manufactured.  Your only connection options were Firewire or composite video.  USB came out on computers and camcorders with the miniDV and Digital8 camcorders a few years later.

Even when USB was added onto camcorders, you could only use it to download photos or camera settings and not video.  It was not until 2007 that USB could be used to dowload video, but that video has to be 'self-contained' or saved in a standard video format that your computer can recognize and handle (such as h.264, mov, or mp4).    

USB also does not work with DV tape.  DV tape was developed so it can only be captured with Firewire.  You MUST use Firewire to access video on DV tape.  Due to format copyrights and licensing agreements, that will probably never change.
