How am I supposed to get it to work with W.M.M.? I have used it fine in the past, I'd say no more than 8 or 9 months ago. All of the sudden it decides to not detect it, I've checked with updates from both Sony and Windows (by the way I am using Windows XP) and nothing seems to work. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

  1. Searching "DCR-TRV1400" did not turn up much - not even at Sony.net.

If the camcorder uses MiniDV tapes, you need to use firewire (not USB) for importing video. Install a firewire400 (IEEE1394a) port on your computer is needed. And you will need to connect the camcorder to the computer with a firewire cable.

  2. Using Firewire, nothing will show up... and the only thing that is detected is that the firewire card is working properly. You need to launch your video editor... If Windows MovieMaker, "Capture" when the camcorder is in Play/Edit" mode.
