My family just got a Sony DAV-HDX465 on sale, something doesn't make sense. We can't hook up the speakers to the dvd/cd player piece. The speakers need some sort of plug to plug it in but all the cord have is speaker wire that's uncovered. What am I supposed to look for because I've checked the Sony site and I can't find anything.

PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. that's not gonna work.  the unit that you have needs a connector or jack to plug the speakers into the main unit.  you will not be able to connect the bare wires without the plug.  i looked at sony's parts website and a found the part you need.  the thing is, they only sell the whole bunch of 6 wires with plugs.. you can't buy just 1 piece.. and they're not cheap. here's the link

  2. i dont know that model of tv - but the speakers  connection

you may be talking the binding posts --  thats whats behind the speakers --  you have a red and a black - postivie and Neg.

you can use bare wire if you like - you need to turn those red and black posts and you should see a hole in the middle and you run the wire in there and s***w those posts back - but i never like to use bare wire - so i use speaker cables that have what are called banana plugs on the ends of the wires -

so with those - all you have to do is push them in the red and black posts - right in the middle of them - and thats it -

you can use bare wire - banana plugs or spades --

i find the banana plugs easy to use and remove when you want etc. -  hope this helps
