Sony Laptop Battery?

My laptop has stopped detecting my battery and its basically no longer portable unless i have an extension cord me with me, does someone know how to fix this??

Replace the battery with a new one... Laptop batteries do not last all that long.  You should be able to find a new one from either Sony or from a third party vendor and it will restore portability to your life...  You may even be able to get the battery rebuilt with new cells at a local electronics repair shop...

Laptop batteries, sadly dont last forever, even if you have an extended warranty on your laptop your battery is still only covered for 12 months because of this.

You didn't mention where you were or what laptop you have so I can't search for good prices for you, but if you search on google or wherever with Laptop Battery Dell Inspiron 1520 or whatever laptop you have then you should come up with some options. Always buy an original though and never a copy, if you have ever seen the results of a Lithium Ion battery going wrong and bursting into flames you will understand :)
