Sony Picture Utility DVD burning?

Question

I have got the videos off my Sony HDR-SR7, and on to my computer. They work through the Sony Picture Browser, and I am burning the video files. However, the first time I tried on my laptop, progress jumped to 16%, and then took 7 hours to reach around 50% and then I got an error message. Now with a different computer, again, it jumped to 16% and then its taking forever to burn. Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone actually successfully burnt a regular DVD using video from a Sony HDR camera? I have tried looking for answers and everyone I look, everyone says the Sony software is c**p. Any answers, suggestions? Greatly appreciated, thanks.
