Sony Playstation 3 (40GB) dropped their price?

Ok my dad is so cheap. I really wanted to buy the PS3 right now i have $70 dollars. My dad owes me $340.00. I looked around cites that are lower than 400 dollars cause since i need to pay the tax with it. My dad told me to wait until the Playstation 3 is cheap. I really want to buy one so bad. While i was browsing around i looked on Best buy. It says the 80GB PS3 is 399.99. So I'm figuring out the ps3 has dropped their price. How much is the 40Gb now and are they on sale still? I hope it is like 350 dollars or lower.

40gb is discounted,

They took the 40gb, added 80gbs and made it $400

Why the h**l would you want that piece of c**p console.  Every game that's out, pretty much you can play on your PC.  Why pay 350 for a gaming rig that you pretty much already own.

Sony's calling it a price drop, but really, they are discontinuing the current 80GB and upgrading the existing 40GB without changing its price.

40 gig PS3 ARE $300 where i live (Canada) eh? :)

And, Carlo, PS3's are waaaaaaaaay better than Xbox 360's (cuz they can paly blu-ray and they have better graphics, and most of the same games in better qaulity anyway)

They should have them for a while though(40gb)..cause the new one is havent been released yet..

While the new 80gb CORE ,they're not supposed to "officially" go on sale until the end of this month, it appears that many retailers are stocking their store shelves with the new 80GB Core Packs. These systems, which retail for $399, offer an upgraded version of the previous 40GB system: a larger hard drive and a DualShock 3 controller. It does not, however, provide any backwards compatibility.

If the new 80GB Core Packs are available, that means the two current PS3 SKUs both feature 80GB hard drives. The more expensive ($499) 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle includes a copy of the popular stealth action game and offers backwards compatibility.

So basically if they released the new 80gb CORE, the 40gb will go bye bye..I recommend you should get the core cause its just a 40gb with twice the memory..Goodluck!
