Why would sony accept a price cut for the uk,(299) but not for the u.s.a i have heard that there are rumors going around about the ps3 price cut down to 299 this holiday season but sony has denied that rumor.

  1. The PS3 (40GB and now new 80GB) has been £299 since the 40GB launched. It's still cheaper for someone over here to import a US one (if they can be bothered) - though some places have knocked a few quid off the old 40GB, now the 80GB is out.

    £299 is about $550!

  2. There will be a new 80gb model coming out in the US. The old 40gb will be dropped to 300$, while the new 80gb will be 400$. and the MGS4 80gb bundle will still be 500$

  3. Well the price has been reduced in the UK. This maybe because sales weren't taking off in the UK as they were in the USA. In the USA consumers were probably still buying the PS3 at a high price so there was no need to cut down the prices. They probably used the money generated from the USA to decrease the prices in the UK to create a stronger monopoly in the UK video games market.

  4. is that in us dollars? if not then i think the PS3 in europe is cheaper but not cheaper then us PS3

if not then ignore this answer

  5. umm UK(299) is US(399) i think

And sony head quarters doesn't have to approve it, that is all up to Sony Entertainment of Europe
